My mom is finally ready for another dog after our husky passed away 3 or 4 months ago. We've been looking on petfinder and contacted some rescue groups but I figured I may as well give it a shot to make a thread here.

Rescues are preferred but if a breeder has one they're willing to part with she would consider that too. She wants a tri-color, sable or lemon. Male or female, doesn't matter. Age ranging from puppy to 3 or 4 years old.

Ideally she'd want one litter trained but I told her not to get her hopes up for that haha. She doesn't want to spend a ton of money on the adoption fee so she has to make some compromises somewhere.

Anyway, thanks for reading. I'll let you know when/if we find the dog she's looking for

Luv a chin.. Pitie is his. Name.. Fostered in Wisconsin..male, 8 lbs.. So cute, is listed on petfinder under luvachin out of SD, but like I said he is. In Wisconsin... I adopted Halle berry from them a year ago.. The foster mom is wonderful, she is who had Halle. Tell them Halle berry's mom sent you... Barbara.. I believe they are asking $275.00.... I would love to have him,but I'm at my quota for my HOA.

Please keep us informed. I would love to know if you got him, I know it would be a good home.

Miss Bob,
I have a 5 month old blk/wht male..both parents champions.  He currently weighs 4 lb 2 oz and I don't expect him to get much over 5 pounds.  He is litterbox trained.

Petie is cute but 2005 is a little too old for my mom apparently. sigh. So many dogs that need to be placed in this world...

Hey Carol! She's more looking for a non-black and white but she does like small and litter trained chins so she would consider your dude as well. Do you have any pictures I can send her?

Thanks for your help everyone I've also received some good p.ms from some of you. My mom is pretty particular about the dogs she likes so please don't be offended if she doesn't think your dog is the one for her.

<3 <3 <3 Thanks again

Miss Bob -

Carol placed Sadie with us -- 6months and litter boxed trained.  She is absolutely wonderful  and the litter box training means that on those cold snowy/rainy days, you don't have to venture out.  Could work out very well for your Mom.   Sadie uses the litter box or wee-wee pads perfectly!   Wish Boop was trained that way!!     If we every decide to go for Chin #3, I'd call Carol in a heartbeat and ask for one who is litter box trained!!

Carol -- send me a picture too!  Maybe I can convince Bill that the time is right for a boy!  My children are girl, girl and boy.  Maybe my Chins can follow suit!

joan,,i think carol has a pic posted on the available dog page...   male chins are sooo goood i have 1 boy and 3 girls --- and i love them all but to be honest my male is better behaved === he does not bark (only for a reason like i want to go outside or come back in that is it) my girls will sit on top of sofa and bark at everyone that passes the house ..  and he is the silliest of them all and has never had an accident in the house....

Mary,
My Geisha Girl would like to meet your lil boy... She is very quiet, never barks, never had an accident in the house, is very well mannered and is the sweetest, goofiest thing on this planet and she scratches or knocks on the door to go out and potty, does her business and comes back to the door and ask to come in. She is the best dog, I think we have ever had, she minds completely.

She does not bark at strangers when they come into the house, and will let them pet her. When the ups guy delivers, he always gives ger a dog biscuit, but she brings it to me, to give final okay if she can have it. Best dog ever. She is looking for a good man...ha,ha.

Glad to hear you have a jewel as well. How old is your lil man, Geisha is 9.

Yes, I do have him listed on "available", but that is an older picture I will get some new ones to you girls.  Wilson is very sweet, a quiet little guy and not demanding.  His mother, Maggie, is Sadie's littermate and she is a lemon.

Thank you everyone for your responses

As I told djhme in an earlier email that dog is too far away to adopt per the adoption agencies distance standards for adoption. Too bad too, because that's definitely a dog my mom would have wanted.

My mom sought to adopt a cream colored pekingese girl. She was a very pretty pekingese.. they sent someone to her house for evaluation and they found dog houses in the yard that my mom uses to house stray cats in the winter. The person inspecting the house didn't ask about the houses, but told the foster woman she had dog houses so she was denied.

Adoption places really irritate me sometimes. My mom is trying to help stray cats not freeze to death, she even rescued one of them and it now lives in the house, and her reward is being denied a dog she was going to adopt.

So long story short she is still on the look for a dog. I think she's narrowing her search down to only Japanese Chins and ruling out pekingese. My dad would rather have a Japanese Chin (because my dad realizes how awesome Mitsuko was and how awesome Mochi is )

So I ask everyone keep their eyes open. And if you hear of a non-black and white female chin looking for a home please contact me

I am going to the national specialty at the end of this month and will ask around.  I talked with your mom on the phone and really wish I had something for her...she sounds like the kind of home I want my puppies to have.  My little boy is #1 a boy and #2 black and white otherwise it might have been a perfect match.

Well. My mom looked into that person you linked me to, Deb. It turns out (not to my surprise) that this particular breeder is the daughter of the person I got my first dog from, Mitsuko.

Without my mom even telling her who I was, the breeder told my mom the story of how they let a girl with tattoos (me) adopt a dog, much to their reluctance because of my tattoos. And when my boyfriend at the time walked Mitsuko when I was at work and she was hit by a car, that to them confirmed that their suspicions about me were correct and that they should be more aggressive when filtering out people who adopt their dogs.

So my mom told them that the tattooed girl was her daughter and now she's not going to get a dog from them. Not that they were going to let her get a dog from them after she told them she was related to me.

I really don't understand how Mitsuko dying while I was at work when I wasn't even involved has anything to do with me or how I cared for her. So needless to say I'm extremely irritated right now.

Sorry, miss bob, that that happened to you.  You certainly went through enough pain when it happened.  I don't get her logic either other than the tatoos show the "type of people" you associate with.  I cannot believe this woman goes off about "screening" when she advertises the way she does. If I were your mom, I would not want one of her dogs anyway after her saying that about you.

Wow, that's terrible!  How did she even know what happened to Mitsuko?

I'm sure there's a beautiful chin out there waiting for your mom to find her.  Let's hope it's soon.

OMGosh Miss Bob!  What a crazy thing to happen - I hope your mom had a choice word or two for that breeder.  For her to be telling the story of Mitsuko dying to (what she thought was) a complete stranger is  just not right.  I'm sure she had no idea she was talking to your MOM and I hope that breeder was just mortified at being so confronted with her own judgmentalism.     Tell your Mom to hang in there....she will find her Chin soon!

I checked out who they were and I am so glad that your mom did not "fit their criteria"  I am sorry that she has not yet found the dog of her dreams, but these people are devious and do not live up to what they "promise"  I will not go into detail, but they are not good for the image of Japanese Chin.

Apparently now the breeders have called my mom back and said they reconsidered. So now my mom is coming down there this weekend to look at their dogs. I'm not sure what the details were of their reconsideration but I'd really like to know.

But I'm on vacation in Los Angeles right now so I haven't had time to get all the details yet. I'll keep yall posted.

Yeah, shes getting a dog from them. She's coming down here this Sunday to pick the one she wants. I'm kind of bummed that she has to get a dog from overly judgemental people but she wants a chin badly so I'm not going to stand in her way. I just wish she could have found a dog from someone better.

I know that Carol cautioned us about the breeder...however it's not those Chin babies fault that the breeder is that way.  Maybe somehow this was supposed to be....if your mom hadn't been the person on the other end of the phone line, that breeder may never have been confronted with her prejudice at all!    The likely truth is that your mom is interested in getting a Chin because of your love and happiness with Mochi...if that breeder only knew how much you spoiled Mochi she would probably be surprised if you didn't have a Chin tattoo someplace!     Good luck to your mom - let us know how it goes!
